With our clients growth over the last 10 years continuing at a fast pace, the company’s infrastructure requirements and demands are high. Our client needs to ensure that the infrastructure can cope with the ever increasing demands from the business. Due to the criticality of some production systems which run 24x7x365, and the dependency on IT to support these systems, they turned to Keytech to refine the managed backup service to ensure the main production database was fully protected and recoverable within the agreed recovery times, with very clear RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objectives) counters that had to be adhered to.
Keytech deployed 2 x 8TB Backup silos at 2 different physical locations across the site to provide additional resilience for the backups. One server backs up all the physical boxes on site utilising N-able D2D software and these backups are then replicated to the 2nd backup silo. The second backup silo then backs up the Virtual server estate using Veeam, and these backups are then replicated to the other backup silo. This ensures that at least 2 copies of the backups exist for each backup taken each evening, one on both backup silos. In addition to the backups that are taken each evening of all servers the Oracle instance that hosts the main production system is backed up multiple times during the week to ensure minimum data loss if the need arose to go back to backups in a disaster recovery situation. As part of the backup solution Keytech carried out restore testing of the primary application to ensure that the agreed recovery times, with very clear RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) counters could be achieved.
